roller blinds – practicality meets style

Roller Blinds

Combining functionality with simplicity, the humble roller blind is still loved by many as the most practical solution in the world of window coverings. Favoured particularly in bathrooms, bedrooms and kitchens due to the fact they can be rolled up outside of the way for ventilation, cleaning or simply to allow maximum light into the room when not needed for shade or privacy. Roller blinds come in a large array of fabrics which lend themselves well to printed designs, rich textures and minimal plains.

Motorised blinds

All our roller blinds have the option for manual sidewinder operation or motorisation. With a choice of systems from Louvolite and somfy your blinds can be used effortlessly via wall switch or handy remote. Add a smart hub into the mix and you can implement your smartphone to allow scheduling for all blinds or pair with Alexa to operate via voice control. Lithium ion battery technology and efficient motors have broadened the potential for electric blinds meaning hardwired connections are no longer essential to enjoy the convenience of this product. The battery only needs charging up to twice a year with normal daily use, this is done by plugging the charger, supplied with the blinds, into the blind while in situ. No removal of the blind or battery is required. For those hard to reach areas a solar panel can be added to take care of recharging for you. Alternatively A/C hardwired blinds are available If you wish to avoid any charging requirements altogether. The blinds ideally need a fused or switched spur to be installed and located close to one side of the barrel so the motor can be wired into your mains supply safely and with ease. For best results The electrical work is best done during the first fix stage or during a re-wire of your property or premises.

Blackout blinds

Blackout fabrics can aid in keeping unwanted light and heat out in summer and will somewhat insulate in winter. The fabric itself will allow no light to permeate although there will be a “halo” surrounding the blind. If one requires complete darkness we can supply roller blinds inside a cassette with side rails and a seal at the bottom to ensure nearly all the light is omitted (there is sometimes a small chink in the bottom corners). Bloc blinds are a well known brand in this sector of whom we have a good working relationship, see product page for more info. Another option for roller blinds could be to pair with black out lined curtains If you prefer a more tailored approach.

Sheer blinds

The modern equivalent of net curtains, sheer fabrics provide privacy whilst maintaining your view of the outside world and letting in plenty of light. Ideal to pair with a blackout curtain or roman to add privacy at night and keep the sun out in those early summer mornings.

Screen blinds

Screen blinds are similar to sheers, they allow varying degrees of opacity depending on the fabric density. A combination of fibreglass and pvc gives this material excellent properties for glare and heat reduction. The durability is also a standout feature making screen blinds a great choice for large sunny openings. Typically screens and sheers are not fully private at night te
